Echovox is the European leader in mobile payment focusing on monetizing web and traditional media audiences with transaction-enabled mobile services. Echovox also provides secured SMS 2-factor authentication tools via its API, so each year hundreds of millions of SMS-messages (from banks, e-commerce sites, and mobile virtual operators) are processed by Echovox.
Echovox was founded in Geneva and has grown rapidly by focusing on providing a unified interface to the mobile world.
For more than 20 years, Echovox has built an extended knowledge in facilitating mobile payments for its partners. Large media companies, TV and radio stations and Mobile content providers are relying on its unique platform to monetize their audiences in 20+ countries.
Challenge
Develop a reliable SMS Gateway MVP processing high load SMS traffic in very tight delay to allow Echovox to continue its activity following the acquisition of spin off company Zong by Paypal, on which Echovox lost its SMS platform.
Since it was MVP, this new platform should have been scalable to scale not only SMS traffic but also implement new features and coverage without redeveloping the platform.
Approach

Platform to broadcast large advertisement SMS campaigns for large media companies during big audience TV shows such as America Got Talent to interact with the audience.
Process high-load SMS 2-factor authentication for large banks and e-commerce platforms to secure the customer journey.

Providing a single API to target multiple mobile operators across Europe to facilitate the implementation of the merchant payment solutions independently of the targeted country.
